HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 24

Requesting our Congressional representatives to introduce legislation amending the Intermodal Service Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA) by eliminating the matching funds contributed by individual states for federal fiscal years 1994-1995.

Whereas, The states have enormous other infrastructure needs which must be dealt with, i.e., water, sewer and schools; and
Whereas, The President has expressed his desire to immediately invest in the country's infrastructure; and
Whereas, This would be at no additional cost to the federal government; and
Whereas, The states have suffered from high unemployment during the recent economic downturn; and
Whereas, The states have had to cope with rapidly rising medical bills; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That our Congressional representatives introduce legislation which amends the Intermodal Service Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA) by eliminating the matching funds contributed by individual states for federal fiscal years 1994-1995; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to each Senator and Congressman of the State of West Virginia.
